Full Brim Safety: Build Smart, Build Safe

Emergency Contact & Muster Points
Welcome back, let's Build Smart & Build Safe! We’ve covered immediate first aid response. Today, we focus on the site-wide coordination that keeps everyone safe during a large-scale event: Emergency Contact and Muster Points.
In emergencies like a fire, severe weather, or a major incident, chaos can cost lives. A clear, practiced emergency action plan ensures everyone knows where to go and that no one is left behind.
Three Pieces of Emergency Information
Every single person on the site must know these three pieces of information:
The Exact Site Address: When calling 911, the first thing they need is your precise location. Post the full street address clearly in key locations on the site.
Internal Emergency Contacts: Know the name and number of the designated Site Safety Manager or First Aid Responder. They are the coordination point.
The Muster Point Location: Know the pre-determined, safe spot where all workers should gather for accountability.
The Muster Point: Accountability is Key
The muster point is not a suggestion—it is the destination for all personnel during a site-wide evacuation.
Evacuate Immediately: If the alarm sounds, stop work, secure the immediate area (if safe), and head straight to the muster point. Do not stop to gather tools or personal belongings.
Accountability: Once you reach the muster point, your supervisor or foreman must take immediate attendance against the list of personnel on site that day.
Do NOT Re-enter: No one, under any circumstances, should leave the muster point or re-enter the site until the incident commander or a designated official has given the all-clear.
Knowing the plan for evacuation and practicing it regularly is a vital defense against tragedy.
Tomorrow, on Fall Protection Friday, we'll talk about the life-saving urgency of post-fall rescue.
